KEEPING UP WITH THE JOHNS'

You may notice I have a sock wrapped around my hind foot.  Seems Mom was upset about the blood on the carpet.  She and Dad took me to the Vet.... normally no big deal but I have been there 3 times in the last 2 months and I was not looking forward to going back.  But who asked me?   No One!  Anyhoo, it seems I had a Hematoma - what ever - it needed to be removed so I didn't bleed on the folks carpet or anything else.  It was a snap - a  shot, shave, punch hole and 3 stitches later I am as good as new.  Thus the sock....  Only thing is I have to go back ---- drats for the stitch removal in 2 weeks.  The Dr.  said I was a perfect patient.... Letting mom and dad put the sock on me however was a TOTALLY different story. Well I must get back to some beauty sleep   Tah Tah for Now.  JAZ

First Time on the Light Rail

Several of us girls took our friend and mentor Carmen to dinner and for her first trip on the light rail.  She is in her mid eighties and loved every minute of  it. We laughed so much and had such a great time.    We look forward to another outing soon.

YEAR OF THE DRAGON - CHINESE NEW YEAR

We visited dear friends in Las Vegas a few weeks ago.   We went down to the Bellagio Hotel to see the latest display in the Conservatory area.  The hotel creates displays throughout the large area for most holidays and seasons.  The one we saw was to celebrate Chinese New Year.  It was fabulous!  If you are ever there be sure to check out what is featured.  There are thousands of fresh flowers used in displays. Water works, etc.  really nice.   Here are a few of the items they had on display.

Yum Yum Veggies

I have had a fun garden this winter. I planted  purple and green cauliflower for the time this year. They tasted yummy - the purple was actually a little sweet.  Broccoli was great also.

I have  5 varieties of lettuce as well as bok choy and chinese cabbage.   It's almost all gone now.  Soon it will  be time to plant a Spring garden.

Fun with Friends

My three best friends and I have a ritual of having a Christmas Dinner or Lunch... Well this year it was a little late due to all our schedules.  We met yesterday and had a great time as usual - we ate good food, exchanged super gifts and laughed a lot.... Such fun we have.   Four good looking babes if I do say so myself.

Recent Sewing

I made a Spicy Spiral Table runner for my friend Bev.  It is sort of retro looking fabric.  Such fun .



The following are little bags for my friends.   They can hold eyeglasses  etc. - they can be made in many sizes.  They are sewn so the zipper spirals around the bags.  Makes for a different look.

RECENT VISITORS

Our friends went out of town for the holiday and we took care of their baby desert tortoises.  I named them Spike and Mike because Spike was such a  pistol and Mike was pretty mellow.  Spike wanted to find a way out of the box they are in.... and then would turn himself over.....Yikes!  More than 6 times on Christmas Day.   But they are really cute.

CHRISTMAS FLOWERS

Every year our dear friends Beverly and Tony spend Christmas Day with us.  This year they went to  spend the holidays with Daughter, Son In law and the two grandsons.  Watching for Santa together I am sure was fun, but we missed them. 

Since we were not together for the day they sent us this beautiful rose and evergreen arrangement.

It is still this beautiful after a week.

CHRISTMAS FUN

We enjoyed opening gifts with friends on Christmas.  Jaz loves the tissue and wrapping paper and is always ready to help if needed.

CHRISTMAS SHIRT

Every year I plan on making a sparkly shirt to wear during the holidays. This year I made one.

I sent this mug with all sorts of goodies to my friend in Utah that was having knee replacement surgery so she would having everything close by.

THANKFUL

This Thanksgiving I am so thankful for a wonderful husband, best friends, a wild child springer spaniel  and health.  We are so blessed to be well and happy.  Here's to all of you - HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
