Bourgade Girls Lunch
October 4th, we had a girls lunch of Bourgade Classmates. Our classmate Adele came to town from Illinois. Good excuse for a lunch don't you think?!
We enjoyed wonderful Mexican food and great conversations. Weather was perfect.

Recent Sewing Projects
Hello, I am trying to catch up and post recent sewing projects. I needed to wait until I had gifted the items before posting. On to more fun.
First, is a Quilt for a Utah High School graduate. She is a fabulous girl and student. The quilt is in Black and Whites and it is a "Zipper Quilt" pattern.

Bourgade 50th Homecoming
I was in the first graduating class for Bourgade Catholic High School here in Phoenix. in 1966.
We recently had a tailgating party and attended the 50th Homecoming game at Bourgade. What a fun time.

David Wright Home
Yesterday, I was fortunate to tag along with Ed and several other photographers and see this beautiful property. We had a special time so we were the only ones on the grounds and had our own private time in the home. It is so unique and I so hope they can restore it to it's original condition. There was such a peace on the grounds and in the home. Enjoyed it all immensely.
I think the tours are ending for awhile, but if you ever get the chance for a tour be sure to take advantage.
In 1950, Frank Lloyd Wright designed a home for his son David and daughter-in-law Gladys on 10 acres in the middle of citrus groves at the base of Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona. The design elevated the home in the form of a spiral rising from the desert floor, converting the treetops into the lawn and revealing 360° views of the mountains forming the valley. Mr. Wright title of the plans “How to Live in the Southwest.” Completed in 1952, the David Wright House is one of three spiral designs realized by Mr. Wright and the precursor to the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. The house is regarded as Mr. Wright’s last residential masterpiece.
The David and Gladys Wright House Foundation is working to restore and maintain the David Wright House and grounds, to celebrate the artistic legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright at the site of one of his most unique and architecturally significant houses through tours, educational programs, exhibitions, lectures, research facilities, events and performances, and to inspire creativity in future generations of artists and architects. The Foundation aims to Preserve Wright’s last residential masterpiece, Celebrate the artistic legacy of Mr. Wright, and Inspire future generations of artists and architects.

Baseball Card Exhibit - Phoenix Art Museum
Ken Kendrick - major owner of the Arizona Diamondbacks has a spectacular baseball collection worth millions. He allowed the Phoenix Art Museum to show about 36 of the most famous and in mint condition cards. We attended this event and it was very interesting. I will post a few of the cards here. While it was so nice to see the cards from all eras back into the 1800's, my favorite was his one of Harmon Killebrew. Harmon was a family friend and a wonderful man and baseball player.

Fabulous 50th Reunion
Bourgade High School was opened in September 1962 with just a freshman class. We grew each year as a big family of friends. In 1966 we were the first graduating class. There were 130 of us -16 have gone on to higher heaven
Saturday, April 2nd, we held our 50th class reunion. We had 76 attendees with over 50 as classmates. Some had never attended a reunion and many came from out of town.
We held the night event at a classmate's home with a huge yard. This was no ordinary garden party. We had music from our day with a wonderful gazebo to dance under. No paper plates and red solo cups for us. We had the nicer stuff. Great food and drink and desserts were enjoyed by all.
Friday, April 1st, we had a gathering just for the gals and we had 20 of us enjoying drinks and Mexican food and LOTS of talking and catching up.
Such fabulous fun. I made swag bags and items for the attendees. Our Blue Angel logo was applied to Coolies along with the person's first initial. I made Luggage tags with last initials . I inserted a copy of our fight song and the class 1966 Last Will and Testament also. Name badges etc.
One of the gals on our planning committee had a ton of memorabilia to share. She had our play programs, school newspapers, pictures, and year books. We even had an original cheerleader outfit to display. We had men and ladies letter sweaters. Some of the guys still fit in theirs!
I claim the saying that I still fit in my earrings from High School and that is about it.
We are still a very close group - all terrific people men and women still friends regardless of marital status etc.
Look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
