Christmas Sewing

I went a little crazy with my friends Accu Quilt cutter.  I made three trees and four wreaths.  Once I  had them sewn and the borders on my friend Maria worked her magic and quilted them each in splendid designs.  Four of these left the state for Christmas and one to a friend here.   The other two are mine.

Recent Sewing Projects

I sew with a group of 4 ladies once a week except the summer.  We last met in April  and Maria challenged us to make an item from scraps.  We each drew a name - which we did not reveal.  We had all brought scraps of fabric to choose from.  We were to make anything we could come up with for the person whose name we drew.  We got together 2 weeks ago and exchanged our gifts.  Such wonderful surprises we had.

I drew Maria's name and made  tissue box covers  with different themes for her.

Cathy made me a beautiful eyeglass case

June made Coasters for Linda

Linda made an applique pillow for Cathy

Maria made coasters for June

This was so much fun!

Furry Visitor

We recently took care of our friends English Springer Spaniel for four days.  It was fun to have fur in the house again.

Ella is such a breeze to care for.   She and Uncle Ed had great times playing ball.   She takes her medicine pills straight from your hand - really no cheese, baby food, etc... Such a jewel.

She does need an audience for her meal time and a ball close by to keep her company.

Ella

I love naps

Come on already throw the ball!

Great fun, lots of ball, slobbery kisses, and snuggling in bed at night.  Thanks for a great time Ella.

Dressing Up

Our Bunco theme this month was of course Halloween.  I decided to dress up as a Scarecrow.

I was the only one that went this far with a  costume.  Most of the ladies had cute Halloween shirts, spider webs on their nails or  Halloween earrings.   I went the full route of cute.  LOL.

Thank You Towels

A wonderful friend of mine has a cabin she rents in  the Heber/Overgaard area.  She asked if I could come up with a towel/thank-you gift to send to those who had stayed at the cabin.

We came up with the tree design and a short note to attach to the towel when she sends it out.

Her family calls their place "the Cabin", thus the notation on the items.

It was fun - have made 20 so far.

Here they are having fun one morning in the grass.  Just motoring along.   Yeah right!

Sewing Room Addition

Below is a picture of the newest addition to my sewing table.

It is a Pfaff Passport 2.0 - a very light machine (12lbs) to use often and take to classes!

Several of my friends have this  new machine.    I will be testing it out as soon as I type this message

Sew- In Such fun!!!

The Annual Sew-In (known as CAMP in my world) was held last weekend .

I am in charge of the  Sewing Sisters Boutique and  also the ironing stations.  I have 6 wooden ironing boards made just for our use.  So it looks likes lots of stuff but.... it is not all mine per se.

Ironing boards in black bags stacked up

We partied and sewed for 4 nights and 5 days.  There were over 70 women - I know, you can hear the noise already can't you?

The ballroom of the Embassy Suites Hotel was loaded with our tables full of sewing machines, fabric, notions and tons more stuff.

Each year we have a charity raffle.   This year we chose to donate to Sunshine Acres Children's Home. They take in children age five years to college who are homeless and provide care they would not get otherwise.  A terrific organization.  We raised over $800 to benefit the home.

We also have a Sewing Sisters Boutique  which is donated goods from our ladies of fabric, notions and much more. Money is donated by each person who shops the table.  Thanks to my table mates help this runs very smoothly.

Here are a few pics of the before opening of the Boutique and the after grab fest.

Before the big reveal!

There was a fun Happy Hour each evening and so many laughs our sides hurt!  Each morning we had cooked to order breakfast and lunch and dinner served at our dining tables.   Really rough  LOL.

We all bring our own projects to work on but it is so nice to know we have lots of people we can call on for HELP!

Tragedy In Arizona

The Prescott Fire Department lost 19  -valiant, hardworking men in the Yarnell Hill Fire.  My heart goes out to their families.  Also. over 100 homes are gone in the town of Yarnell.  So many people starting over.  So sad.  This too shall we rise from.
